Severe Weather Shelter Network partners with other organizations and agencies to provide emergency shelter on life threatening winter nights for single adults living on the streets in Jefferson and Arapahoe Counties.
Our first shelter night occured in February 2013. Congregate shelter is provided in local church buildings staffed by volunteers with Key staff members to provide direction and oversight.
SWSN is mobilized when overnight temperatures are projected to be 32 degrees or colder with wet conditions or 20 degrees or colder with dry conditions. We average 55 nights of shelter for 120 individuals between October 1 and April 30 each year.
SWSN embraces volunteers from all backgrounds who are passionate about serving our guests. More information about our organization and the many opportunities to serve can be found on the Volunteers tab of our website.
